(Yield: 4 servings)
2 large onions
3 tablespoons Kikkoman Soy Sauce
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1-1/2 teaspoons brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves, crumbled
1/8 teaspoon dried tarragon leaves, crumbled
Dash dried oregano leaves, crumbled
Dash ground black pepper
- Cut unpeeled onions lengthwise into quarters.
- Combine soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, basil, tarragon, oregano, pepper and 1/3 cup water; pour into 8-inch square baking pan. Place onion quarters in pan, turning over to coat cut sides with sauce mixture.
- Bake in lower third of 400ºF. oven 40 to 45 minutes, or until onions are tender and most of liquid has evaporated, carefully turning onions over every 10 minutes.
