Ingredients (Yield: 8 servings)
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 cups cracked wheat
Grated peel of 1/2 orange
Juice of 1 orange
Chicken stock
5 tablespoons Kikkoman Less Sodium Soy Sauce
1 cup chopped dried figs
1/2 cup chopped green onions
1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted
Instructions
- Melt butter in medium skillet. Stir in wheat until coated with butter. Add orange peel.
- Combine orange juice with enough chicken stock to make 4 cups liquid. Add liquid and less sodium soy sauce to skillet.
- Bring to boil; cover and simmer 45 minutes until wheat is cooked through and all liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat. Stir in figs, onions and almonds just before serving.
