Kikkoman thinks it’s great that more and more dads are getting into cooking, and preparing family meals on a regular basis. And, just like mom, dad deserves the red carpet treatment on his special day. This Father’s Day, let him put his feet up while the rest of the family pitches in to make his favorite meal. Some dads go for Asian food, some for Italian — and what dad doesn’t like a barbecue? Whatever your father’s favorite cuisine may be, Kikkoman has recipes and products to help you plan the perfect meal.
Make sure the kids get to contribute to the planning and preparation of the Father’s Day feast. Older children can help with the actual cooking, and it’s best to get them involved in the menu planning as well, so they will really take pride in the meal. They’ll have fun searching the recipes on the Kikkoman Home Cooks site for new twists on dad’s favorite foods, whether it’s steak, chicken, pasta or fish. And they’ll find plenty of ideas for side dishes and salads to round out the meal.
Make Time for the Special Meal
If they’re too young to help in the kitchen, bring out the crayons and construction paper so kids can create colorful table decorations, place cards and menus, and a Father’s Day card or poster mentioning all the things they appreciate about their dad.
Eating together is a great way for families to share experiences and bond, so don’t try to shoehorn dad’s dinner in between too many other activities. Get the kids to agree to be on their best behavior so that everyone — and especially dad — enjoys a pleasant and delicious meal together. And when dinner is over, let dad kick back and relax while the rest of the family cleans up!
